Euwe-Alekhine, World Chess Championship, Amsterdam 1935, game 20
In 1935, Max Euwe defeated Alexander Alekhine in a long match of 30 games, becoming the 5th World Champion. In the 20th presented game, the Dutch player showed great skill and subtly outplayed his powerful opponent at all stages of the game. White's play impressed with the harmony of strategy and tactics, when, with the help of concrete variations, Euwe gradually improved his position and won a pawn. Particularly nice is the hidden tactical trick missed by Alekhine in the endgame, which Euwe would have foreseen several moves previous. After that, the game was practically decided, and with good technique, Euwe brought it to its logical outcome. Alekhine called this game the best in the match.
